Community-Based Mentoring is the original and most flexible program offered by Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. This program matches an adult volunteer (“Big”) with a child (“Little”) in a professionally supported, one-to-one mentoring relationship.
Bigs and Littles meet 2–4 times per month in their local community, spending intentional time together through everyday activities such as visiting parks, grabbing a snack, attending events, or simply talking and building trust. Through consistent interaction, Littles gain confidence, guidance, and positive role modeling, while Bigs make a meaningful impact in a young person’s life.
This flexible structure allows matches to grow naturally while still receiving ongoing support and guidance from program staff.
