Annual Meeting of Members
Annual Meeting of Members
Wild Water Adventure Park
Fourth Friday in May
4:00 – 7:00 pm
Each year, Wild Water Adventure Park generously opens up their park to Big Brothers Big Sisters’ Bigs, Littles, Families, Board and Staff before it is open to the public. Over 200 of our program participants gather for an afternoon of water rides, arcade games, food and fun. During the event, our Bigs of the Year are honored for their commitment to their Littles and to the program. These Bigs are selected by a panel of individuals from the community who support Big Brothers Big Sisters. Pictured below are last year’s recipients.
2011 Bigs of the Year
Big Brother of the Year – Victor Padilla

“My name is Damian J. De Leon and I want to nominate my Big Brother Victor Padilla as for Big Brother of the Year. With the help of my Big Brother, I’ve grown and learned so much. With his patience and determination he has helped me to become a better person in every day life. He has taught me how to tie my shoes laces so I wouldn’t fall and hurt myself. He helped me with my homework and always tells me to do my best in school. I enjoyed going to many different places that my parents weren’t able to take me. I remembered when I got the chance to throw the first pitch at the Grizzly game; I was scared because I didn’t know how. My Big Brother took the time to teach me and I was able to do it!”

Big Sister of the Year – Lynda Borges

“My Big Sister Lynda is my best friend. I know she cares about me and I care about her. I can talk to my Big Sister and I know she is there for me. My Big Sister picks me up from school on Wednesdays. It’s my favorite day of the week! I hope she wins Big Sister of the Year, but no matter what, she is the best Sister in the world!”

Big Couple of the Year – Brian & Nora Crow

“I want to thank Nora and Brian for taking me places. I feel that Nora and Brian care about me and they make me feel important. Brian and Nora are nice and they make me feel like I am a part of their family. I want Brian and Nora to know that I want them in my life for a long time. Brian and Nora have done a lot for me like taking me fishing and a trip to San Diego for the first time. I want Brian and Nora to feel the same way I feel and that is special.”

High School Big Brother of the Year – Isaiah Lorenzo

“Isaiah Lorenzo is my Big Brother and should be nominated for Big of the Year. He is very supportive of me and my goals. He encourages me to follow my dreams, hopes and ambitions in life. When we spend time together, we talk about life’s trials and what we can learn from them. He has taught me to push myself to achieve more than what is expected from me. Isaiah is fun, giving, caring, nice, awesome, trustworthy, responsible, noble, brave, and a great role model. He has taught me to respect myself and others. He said that I should always be honest in all that I say and do. My Big Brother has helped me to overcome personal struggles, disappointments, and how to make the most out of any situation. He has helped me to reach my goal of getting straight A’s in school, and he is the first person I show my report card to. I know Isaiah will do great things in life, and I know that if I follow his example, I will do great things in life also.”

High School Big Sister of the Year – Lauren Magdaleno

“I pick my Big Sister Lauren for Big Sister of the year because she has always been there for me. Lauren is always nice to me and she knows how to be a friend. She has always taught me how to be a friend too. I am glad we are friends.”
